Lot Description
Chanel Three-Piece Ensemble, 1999
After four decades at Chanel, Lagerfeld earned a legacy as a creative force that reinvigorated the heritage label, infusing it with postmodern playfulness while honoring its roots. Equally versed in the languages of popular culture and the craft and traditions of couture, a combination described as ‘high fashion and high camp’, Lagerfeld’s reinvention of the brand and marketing savvy created a voracious appetite among young buyers, sealing the fate of the iconic double CC logo into this century’s visual lexicon.
Tan wool/alpaca woven jacket with notched lapel, set in long sleeves, two front chest flap pockets, and off-center hook and eye front closure with matching tan suede skirt. The unlined jacket is trimmed with a panel of suede that matches the skirt and is finished at the hem on the inside with a silver-tone chain. The sweater is a long sleeve turtle neck with CC logo buttons down the left side of the neck opening. The flared tan/green suede skirt is cut in panels and gathered into a wide waistband. There is a pocket over each hip, a metal decorative piece on the left hip that reads "Chanel / Paris" and the skirt closes with a zipper.
