A PAIR OF JAPANESE KUTAMI PORCELAIN DOUBLE VASES

Meiji period, late 19th c., attributed to Nanri Kaju

Having a wavy flared rim with red and gold band about the neck, open circles on outer vase surrounded with red, gold-edged hexagonal bands on circular flaring base. Both the top and bottoms are decorated with floral reserves on red and gold field. One vase extensively repaired. H: 24 3/4 in. Note: A comparable pair is in the General Hector Tyndale Memorial Collection, 1897, Philadelphia Museum of Art.
