Enamel on aluminum, signed lower right, 28 x 28 in. John Vassos studied fine art with John Singer Sargent and Joseph Urban before moving to New York where he took to stage design and magazine illustration. An industrial designer of some note, Vassos worked for firms such as RCA and Coca Cola. Vassos's bold graphic style was instrumental in his success in writing and illustrating fourteen books.
