Northern California Sinew-Backed Bow, Arrows, and Quiver
first half 19th century
includes a cracked recurve bow with wrapped hide grip and hooked nocks; length 39-1/4 inches; PLUS eight arrows, some without points, average length 31 inches
relic hide quiver embellished with strands of white and red white-heart glass pony beads terminating with cut abalone shell pendants, length 32 inches
Pasted to interior of quiver is a handwritten note: ... Paiute Indian, Hico[sic] Nevada / 1868 / by Major George Clendon
PLEASE NOTE: Change of date from earlier transcription of note - not 1808 but 1868.
