Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. WEITFLE, Charles (1836-1921), photographer. A group of 7 stereoviews of Colorado, incl. a group of miners and adventurers traveling by horse-drawn wagon.
6 3/8 x 4 1/4 in., or smaller, stereoviews on cardstock mounts (toning and some soiling to images; soiling and spotting to mounts, corner and edge wear, some with residue to margins). Each stereoview is titled, either in the negative or on verso, and five include Charles Weitfle's Central City, CO, imprint on verso.
Many originally produced by James Thurlow, Manitou, Colorado's first resident photographer. When he died of pneumonia, Charles Weitfle purchased Thurlow's 250 negatives.
