[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 3 artillery shells, incl. Confederate examples. 


3 in. Read Confederate artillery shell, 3 in. dia., 7 1/4 in. ln. The shell has been drilled out and the powder has been removed to make it safe for display. Oral history that accompanies the piece indicates that it was recovered years ago in Northern Virginia. -- Confederate Burton artillery shell made for a 3 in. ordinance rifled cannon, 3 in. dia., 7 in. ln. The shell has been drilled out and the powder has been removed to make it safe for display. -- Hotchkiss design artillery shell with flame grooves, case shot for 3 in. ordinance rifle, 2 in. dia., 5 1/2 in. ln. The projectile has been drilled out and the powder has been removed to make it safe for display. 

Together, 3 artillery shells. Wear consistent with age and use.
