Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Confederate enlisted man's frame buckle found at Fredericksburg, Virginia.
2 9/16 x 2 1/4 in. sand cast frame buckle (varied patination, oxidation, one prong tip missing). Provenance: Ex-Dave Taylor, who acquired it from a collection with note that it was found at Fredericksburg, VA in 1971 (consignor note).
These standard frame buckles were produced in large numbers and used by Confederate enlisted men, particularly infantrymen, during the Civil War.
