Lot Description

[CIVIL WAR]. Pistol powder flask with patriotic motif. 


4 3/4 x 2 x 1 in. copper powder flask embossed with spread-wing eagle and shield, 13 stars, crossed pistols, and "E Pluribus Unum" riband (very good patina, one side with a few small dents, including one to left of eagle and shield, and one in stars above the eagle). 

These flasks were made by private contractors to accompany cased Colt and Remington pocket .31 caliber and .36 caliber revolvers. They were furnished by dealers or selected by owners for their respective guns.
