Of rectangular form in "SOLE LEATHER" with steel sprung form, having tooled floral motif to lid, and stencilled name "H.H.W. LIEUT. 9th MAINE VOLS" on one side and "H.H. WADWORTH" to other, the interior lined in glazed linen and pasted with lithographs of 19th century women, dark staining to parts of leather, one leather handle detached (remains), interior flap detached, 13 x 21.5 x 8.5 in.
