Four Japanese Metal Tsuba
18TH-19TH CENTURY
the first a circular iron example, decorated in gold and bronze showing a rabbit underneath the moon, with chiselled clouds and waves, the rim mounted with bronze; the second an open worked iron example decorated with numerous monkeys; the third a gilt decorated shakudo example with opened worked decoration depicting an eagle tied to its perch, signed 長州萩住忠高作; the fourth of mokko form, silvered metal nanako, inlaid with shakodu and gilt, showing birds and rockery, signed 守一壽.
Average length 8 1/2 in., 21.5 cm.
