A Pair of Large Japanese Presentation Cloisonné Vases
MARK OF ANDO JUBEI STUDIO, MEIJI PERIOD, LATE 19TH CENTURY
each with the baluster body rising to slightly sloping shoulders and a flared mouth,
the main panel finely worked in silver wire and colored enamels against a wireless cloisonné ground, one vase depicting Nagoya Castle, the other showing a soldier guarding the entrance of the Third Divisional Barracks in Nagoya, with an inscription "Third Divisional Field Artillery", silver mounts, the underside bearing an Ando Jubei studio mark, raised on a fitted hardwood stand, with original box.
