18TH-19TH CENTURY
18-19世紀 印度細密畫兩幅
(1) Elephant with a Mahout
(Mughal, India, circa 1760)
The elephant facing left with pink trunk and ear, white and gold tusks, with a decorative saddle-cloth in orange, green and gold, white tassel, and bells at his girth and neck, the mahout wears a white jama with a blue turban and holds a golden goad, pale green background. Framed.

Acquired from Sotheby's Parke Bernet, New York, Sale 3264, Lot 240, November 19, 1971.

with a groom with fly-whisk at the side.
