LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
明 緙絲迎面龍海水江崖萬壽紋補
finely woven as a single section with a vibrant palette of primary hues to show a large headed front-facing dragon, the front claws spreading to grasp through ruyi-headed clouds at water-splashed trident mountains, the rear set holding a large pearl radiating with polychrome bands above its flaming crown. Each mountain, cloud, and pearl band of radiance woven with pale yellow threads marking auspicious wan symbols and longevity shou characters.
