Apache Beaded Hide Awl Case
third quarter 19th century


sinew-sewn on softly tanned hide; beaded edges and lanes accentuate the rows of tin cone fringe; a silver brooch decorates the lower end and a brass spread eagle button adorns the top
 
overall length 19 inches

All of these cases have metal cones, beadwork, and attractive leather shapes. The third case has an early Eastern Woodland-style silver brooch as decoration on the bottom tab. (Hanson 1994: 209)
