Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A collection of pairs cased images featuring the same male subjects highlighted by a stereodaguerreotype, including:
Stereodaguerreotype comprising a pair of irregular sixth plate images of a well-dressed bearded gentleman. (Tarnishing around edges, with spotting to plates; retaining portions of original seals.) Housed in a full Mascher case (part of ribbon missing, surface wear). -- A pair of daguerreotype portraits of the same portly gentleman identified as John Clarke Prescott, one appearing to be a mirror image copy of the other. (Original image with some tarnishing to edges and spotting throughout, copy image with tarnishing to edges, spotting and wipe marks throughout, both with oxidation to mats and preservers; both retaining original seals.) Both housed in pressed paper cases (surface wear). Both with pieces of paper identifying the gentleman as "John Clarke Prescott." -- And 3 other pairs including one pair of sixth plate daguerreotypes, one pair of sixth plate ambrotypes, and one pair of ninth plate images including a daguerreotype and a tintype. -- Together 5 pairs of images featuring the same male subject.
