Lot Description

[OHIO]. A group of Ohio-related manuscripts and ephemera, including:

Document is from the court in Chillicothe, December session 1800. Re: one Robert Barnes obstructing Zanes public road (Zanes Trace?) by building a fence across it. Seems to be some text missing along right edge.

Small receipt for use on demand of the boat "M.B. Ross" by John Maguyen. Chillicothe, Dec. 12, 1841. On verso the docket indicates this is a canal boat which became the Kentucky. Rough condition.

Printed copy of a bill passed Feb. 12, 1851 in the Ohio Senate to allow the "Centre Plank Road Company" to erect a toll gate after two and one-half miles of road is completed.

Pay order for a road contract for the "Centre Plank Road Company." April 28, 1851.

Printed agreement for land for a National road, should it be needed. "Whereas, the Congress of the United States hath passed, at sundry times, Laws, appropriating money for the purpose of opening and constructing a Road, to continuation of the Cumberland Road west of the Ohio river, and in the State of Ohio. Now therefore, I, the subscriber, whose lands are situated in or near the route of the contemplated road, do, by these presents, bind myself, my heirs,....to relinquish so much of the lands in question....as shall be necessary for the construction of said road...." Noted as "True Copy for the engineer."
