Jenkins (1805-1883) was a committed secessionist who served as Georgia governor from 1865-1868. He was noted for his defiance of Federal military authority. -- A group of election tickets: Republican ticket for the 1869 Virginia Governor's race which featured Radical Republicans Horatio Wells (1823-1900) and African American physician Dr. Joseph D. Harris (ca 1833-1884) for lieutenant governor; Conservative Republican ticket for the 1869 Virginia Governor's race featuring Gilbert C. Walker (1883-1885) and John F. Lewis for lieutenant governor; and People's Party ticket for the November 7, 1893, Virginia governor's race featuring white supremacist and Civil War veteran Edmund R. Cocke as Democrat candidate for governor. (All in generally good condition with creasing, toning, light soil.)

On letterhead of the "Rooms Sixth Congressional District Committee." With less than a week until the November election, Krise asks whether the voters in his district "prefer to be represented in Congress of the United States by the standard-bearer of the Democratic party, or by the man who stands for Republicanism and all the evil and humiliation the term implies."
