Lot Description
ADAMS, John Quincy (1767-1848). Partly-printed land document signed "(J.Q. Adams"). [Washignton, D.C.], 13 September 1825.
1 page, sight 15 1/2 x 9 3/8 in., old creases with light brown staining, matted and framed, not examined out of frame.
A land grant to James Cloyd (1790-1872) of Darke County, Ohio, registered in the Land Office at Cincinnati, Ohio. Cloyd, originally from Appalachia, was a veteran of the War of 1812, having served as a private in 2nd (Price's) Regiment of Ohio Militia. Census data notes that Cloyd was a farmer in German Township in Darke County, Ohio. The document is completed in a secretarial hand, and signed by President Quincy Adams.
