4 3/4 x 6 1/2 in. photograph on 7 1/2 x 10 1/8 in. cardstock mount (minor crease to mount). Photographer's imprint printed in red to mount recto. Image blind stamped "reproduzione interdetta" [reproduction prohibited].

SIGNED BY POPE PIUS XI to lower mount margin next to the embossed Coat of Arms of Pius XI. An Italian priest born Achille Ratti, he was elected 260th Pope from 1922 until his death in 1939. He was the first head of state of Vatican City as an independent sovereign state.
