An unidentified, well-armed cavalry private is shown wearing a regulation shell jacket with early war brass shoulder scales and a Model 1858 Hardee hat with crossed sabers insignia. He is armed with four weapons, including a pistol and two belted knives. The fourth is difficult to discern.
