This limited-edition bag was made by Fendi in collaboration with Fondazione Lisio, a Florentine organization which preserves the art of hand-woven silk. According to La Fondazione LISIO e FENDI, the book included in this lot, “the weaving technique used to produce the textilelampas--is very old; the compound twills of the Middle Ages are part of the same family.” The textile uses the “liseré effect, that is 'floating' half the ground weft shots in gold, thus creating designs on the ground.” The autumnal motifs featured include chestnuts and grapes, which recall Chinese yellow-ground dayazhai porcelain. Manufactured using a European technique, the bag’s decoration connotes a Chinese motif inspired by cultural import from Persia and the Near East.
