FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, with the May 1936 date. FIRST ISSUE of the dust jacket, with Gone with the Wind listed in the second column of Macmillan's publications. Mitchell's epic Civil War novel was a huge success; it won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, has sold more than 8 million copies, and has been translated into at least 18 languages.
