A Japanese Metal Inlaid Coconut Shell  Saya Inro
19TH CENTURY

of short, rounded rectangular form, the interior silvered metal with incised floral decoration, the case with gold and silver inlays on one side showing the immortal Shoki, the reverse with a a gold and red lacuqered oni hiding from the immortal figure, unsigned; together with a mixed-metal ojime in the form of a frog atop a lotus leaf, and a gilt decorated bronze bell-form netsuke.
Length 2 in., 5.1 cm.
