Lot Description
Givenchy Haute Couture Double Breasted Pant Suit, Fall/Winter 1997
This haute couture suit was produced by Alexander McQueen within his first year as creative director of Givenchy. Its silhouette derived from styles shown in the Autumn/Winter 1997/98 prêt-à-porter collection and was adapted to the client’s specifications and desires. The production of this suit was bookended by McQueen’s iconic collections for Givenchy: The Search for the Golden Fleece and Eclect Dissect. McQueen’s tenure at Givenchy responded to Hubert’s mastery of simplicity by infusing “Parisian chic – with mayhem.”
Haute Couture black wool two-piece pant suit including a jacket with a built up shawl neckline, welt pockets, flared sleeves with curved hems, and front red rhinestone buttons closure; paired with matching straight fit pants with curved hems and front fly closure.
