Lot Description
Vivienne Westwood Fleeced Wool Coat, Fall/Winter 1996
This jacket was likely retailed among Vivienne Westwood’s Storm in a Teacup collection for Fall/Winter 1996. The exaggerated shoulders recall the shape of leg-of-mutton sleeves. This type of sleeve has come in and out of fashion for centuries but reached its largest size in the late Victorian Era, a period often echoed in Vivienne Westwood’s creations. This jacket combines the excessive volume of women’s fashion with an essence of men’s military dress in the fitted waist.
Gray fleeced wool coat with oversized rolled collar, stylized leg-of-mutton long sleeves with fitted cuffs, hip patch pockets, and front asymmetrical button closure.
