[ROYALTY]. Poster and textiles celebrating Queen Victoria and her son, Edward VII, comprising:
Poster of Queen Victoria's Jubilee (60 years), showing Britannia handing a crown to the Queen. Toronto, J.C. Clarke, 1897. (minor spotting along top edge, colors still bright.)
[With:] Handkerchief, 17-1/4 x 18 in. Memorial piece with black border and birth and death dates below her portrait as well as Edward and Alexandra above the portrait.
[With:] (3) Same, scarf 21-1/2 x 24-1/2 in. Printed for the Jubilee of Queen Victoria, with family around her and Prime Ministers in the corners. (one printed slightly lighter than the other, but all images visible and text readable on lighter kerchief)
[With:] Handkerchief, 18-1/2 in. square. Celebration of Victoria's Jubilee - "Souvenir of Her Majesty's Reign - the Longest on Record" (which, of course, has now been surpassed). With portraits of a young and old Victoria, portraits of Prime Ministers in upper corners and lower border.
[With:] Scarf, 26-1/2 x 29 in. Unusual in that it has a red background instead of the usual white. On bottom ribbons: "Queen of Our Island Home We Hail Thee With Joy to Celebrate Thy Jubilee." Around the crown in the center are British colonies (India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Gibraltar, Malta, Leeward Islands, Straits Settlements, West Africa Honduras, Cyprus, New Guinea, Hong Kong, Ceylon, Borneo, West Indies, Canada." Larger flags with Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales (Great Britain).
[With:] Scarf, approx. 20 in. square. With "God Save the Queen" above her portrait. Around the perimeter are vignettes of advances that occurred during her reign, such as faster ships, motor cars, modern buildings, etc.
[With:] Plus a textile (not hemmed) of Her Majesty Queen Alexandra and HIs Majesty King Edward VII. Edward ("Bertie") was Victoria and Albert's eldest son and successor to his mother on the throne in 1901.
[Also with:] included are two menus from the Hotel de la Metropole in Paris. These include two similar menus, one printed in blue, the other in red, noting that they are souvenirs of Edward's coronation, 9 August 1902. There are also portraits of Edward and Alexandra - all four on fabric. The portraits are framed with menus taped to backing (not removed for examination, hers with brown staining along upper and lower edges).
