[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Extensive collection of photographs of dogs with and without their companions. Ca 19th-20th centuries.
Over 90 photographs in every imaginable size. There are cdvs, cabinet photos, tintypes, one cyanotype, large format images, early 20th century paper photos. These all range from about 2 x 2 in. to 8 x 10 in.
A few have the dog alone, most have the dog with one human "buddy," one guy even has his dog on a leash while riding his horse; a few have the whole family, usually with the dogs being held by a small person in front.
The dogs also vary widely - from Jack Russell terriers to Irish wolfhounds. A fair number are hunting dogs - one shows animal skins hanging on a wall, with the dog and hunter in front. Another just has a man with a long gun, his dog by his side. The are also cute fluffy ones, usually accompanied by a small child.
