modeled as the stern of a ship with one sailor at the wheel another manning a rope, the gilt dial with Roman numerals, raised on a stepped plinth base on bracket feet, the works are stamped MEDAILLE DE GLT and numbered 1191.

Height 11 3/4 x width 11 1/4 x depth 8 in., 29.8 x 28.6 x 20.3 cm.

The bronze and silvered case of this French Industrial clock is in the form of a ship’s quarter deck, set with a real and operating binnacle compass with the quartermaster at the helm. To his right and left are fine bronze and silvered gimbal lamps. that really are gimbaled and finished in bronze and silvered. The quarterdeck is beautifully modelled with fine gilt bronze oak deck before gilt bronze bollards. The quartermaster’s wheel is silvered around the circumference, but all the spokes are gilt bronze. Down the steps to the main deck is a young sailor with a coil of rope. Between the sailor and the steps there is a covered companionway with silvered slatted top. To the sides are gilt bronze and silvered portholes. The whole on a stepped black marble base on gilt bronze bracket feet. The two train French movement is stamped ‘Hors Concoure Besancon 1893 Ls Boname (Doubs) Seloncourt.’ Luis Boname. The clock strikes the hours and halves on a gong. The helmsman forms the top of the compound pendulum and rocks back and forth with each tick.
