Group of 18 real photo postcards of the Columbus, Ohio flood of March 25, 1913. Scenes include rescue parties, houses knocked over at Broad & Cypress; a horse-drawn firetruck to the rescue; a broad expanse of water with a few scattered trees, and “X” by one isolated tree with “13 people taken from this tree;” Levee St. 15 minutes after the levee broke; other houses in the main path of the flood; the flood at the penitentiary; destroyed houses on Centner St.; Town St. bridge; Glenwood Ave; Rodgers Ave.; McKinley Ave; Thomas Ave.

Cdv, Wm. Oldroyd, Columbus, Ohio. “The State Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, fronts on Town Street, Columbus, O., and stands near the centre of a ten acre plat of ground.” He then goes on to give the measurements of the building, as well as how much plastering flooring, number of windows, number of bricks, and total cost ($625,000).

Four 8 x 10 in. mounts, preprinted on verso with “Department of Architecture / Ohio State University.” There are common faults listed that a professor could then simply check or circle. The four buildings are not identified, but at least a couple appear to be on O.S.U.’s campus.
