The present lot belonged to Keith Brown (1933-2018), a highly regarded American trombone player, teacher, conductor and arranger who was awarded the Legacy Circle Award in June 2021 for his "profound and lasting impact on the evolution of trombone playing and teaching." Throughout his career, Brown was a member of the Indianapolis Symphony, New York Brass Quintet, Philadelphia Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. In addition to many other instances of organizational involvement, music publication and solo performances throughout his lifetime, Brown held the positions of Professor of Music at Temple University, Professor of Trombone and conductor of orchestras at Indiana University, and served as the artistic director and conductor of the Camerata Orchestra of Bloomington, Indiana.
