Note:
Built in 1916, the Swift House in Lake Forest, Illinois was designed by architect Howard van Doren Shaw in the Italian Renaissance Revival style as an addition to the original 1898 estate of Louis F. Swift, president of the meatpacking firm Swift & Company. One of only four homes designed by Shaw in this style, the Swift house is among the last standing, earning its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Adding to its historic significance, the home hosted the Prince of Wales—later King Edward VIII—as a private guest in 1924.
