This plate was attributed to the Menzies Group, Group of the Trieste Askoi by A.D. Trendall in personal correspondence, January 16, 1992. Trendall notes the “neat, elegant style” of the painter, exemplified in this plate, as well as lot 64 and 65 in this sale. This piece was later published in Trendall’s supplements to The Red-figured Vases of Apulia. A copy of this correspondence will be provided to the purchaser.
