Frame: 23 1/4 x 19 5/8 inches. In good, stable condition overall; minor areas of discoloration to the paint layer throughout commensurate with age. Some scattered, tight age splits, as well as minor instances of surface wear and loss (some exposing the underlying gesso) to the giltwood frame. Deposit of a light brown substance to the lower half of the reverse of the canvas. Examination under UV light reveals a relatively light, fairly even varnish with no evidence of repair or retouch. Areas of the giltwood frame fluoresce under UV light where the gilt has been retouched.

Mike Intihar is the Senior Director of Appraisals & Valuations, Midwest at Hindman Appraisals.

Mr. Intihar joined the firm in 1997, and he has expertise in 18th, 19th and early 20th-century Continental, English and American decorative arts and furniture. Mr. Intihar appraises and catalogues approximately 6,000 objects annually for auction and appraisal purposes, and he performs onsite appraisals at various appraisal fairs and events throughout the year.
