THE FIRST
The overall condition is fair with the following:
Structural Issues: The tops of each sock show small holes, likely from stocking clasps. There are two slightly larger small holes on each stocking, also likely due to stocking clasps.
Split/Separated Seams: Both stockings have a popped seam around the ankle and heel.
Soiling/Spots: There is moderate soiling on the feet with some darker and larger spots along the tops of one of the stockings.
THE SECOND
The overall condition is very good structurally (they appear unworn) with the following:
Fading/Color Change: Both stockings have some minor darkening due to age.
Soiling/Spots: Each stocking has some small spots throughout.
Repairs/Alterations: The stockings have been tacked together at the toes.
THE THIRD
The overall condition is good structurally with the following:
Structural Issues: There is moderate to heavy wear along the heels and toes on each stocking.
Fading/Color Change: There is some moderate fading on each stocking.
Soiling/Spots: Each stocking's foot has moderate soiling.
THE FOURTH
The overall condition is good with the following:
Fading/Color Change: The stockings have some overall minor fading.
Soiling/Spots: There is moderate to heavy soiling long the feet and toes. There is some soiling long the tops.
Repairs/Alterations: One of the stockings has a repair at the heel.
THE FIFTH
The overall condition is fair with the following:
Structural Issues: There are several small holes on the ball of the foot on both stockings.
Fading/Color Change: The stockings have an overall yellowed coloring to them.
Soiling/Spots: Both stockings have extensive spotting throughout and heavy wear to the bottom of the feet.
THE SIXTH
The overall condition is very good with the following:
Structural Issues: There are a couple of pin head sized holes along the top of one stocking.
THE SEVENTH
The overall condition is fair with the following:
Structural Issues: There is a run in the front and back of one stockings with additional wear at the ankle and hole near the top.
Soiling/Spots: Each of the heels and toes have moderate soiling. The top of one stockings has some small orange spots.
Repairs/Alterations: There appears to be some repairs made to each of the toes.
THE EIGHTH
The overall condition is fair with the following:
Split/Separated Seams: there are several small splits in the center back seams of both stockings and a couple of small holes in the toes.
Fading/Color Change: Both stockings have some moderate fading.
Soiling/Spots: The bottoms of each sock have some moderate soiling.
THE NINTH
The overall condition is good structurally with the following:
Structural Issues: The tops have been stretched out from wear.
Soiling/Spots: There is heavy soiling on the feet of both socks with some moderate spotting throughout each.
THE TENTH
The overall condition is good with the following:
Soiling/Spots: There is some light soiling along the tops of each stocking with some minor soiling along each foot.
Repairs/Alterations: One stocking has some darned areas on the inner ankle and lower calf.
THE ELEVENTH
The overall condition is very good structurally with the following:
Soiling/Spots: There are some small spots along the feet and some light soiling on the toes of each sock.
THE TWELFTH
The overall condition is very good with the following:
Soiling/Spots: There is some minor soiling along the bottoms of the feet.
THE THIRTEENTH
The overall condition is very good with the following:
Soiling/Spots: There is a dark streak on the bottom of one of the stockings.
THE FOURTEENTH
The overall condition is poor with the following:
Structural Issues: The heel and toe of one sock have large holes with the other showing smaller holes.
Soiling/Spots: The stockings are heavily soiled along the bottom of the feet with moderate-heavy soiling throughout the wool toppers.
THE FIFTEENTH
The overall condition is poor with the following:
Structural Issues: There are several holes in the feet of each stocking.
Fading/Color Change: Each of the stockings has darkened due to age.
Soiling/Spots: The feet of both stockings are heavily soiled.
Repairs/Alterations: The heels, toes, and ankles show some darning and other types of repairs.
THE SIXTEENTH
The overall condition is very good structurally with the following:
Soiling/Spots: There are several small orange spots throughout both stockings.
THE SEVENTEENTH
The overall condition is good with the following:
Structural Issues: There is a small hole on the side of one of the stockings.
Soiling/Spots: There is some light soiling along the bottom of the stockings and some spots along each of the tops of both.
THE EIGHTEENTH
The overall condition is fair with the following:
Structural Issues: There are several small holes along the back ankles of each stocking.
Soiling/Spots: Each heel and toe is heavily soiled with several small spots and areas of soiling throughout the stockings.
THE NINETEENTH
The overall condition is poor with the following:
Structural Issues: There is a hole on the back calf of one of the stockings.
Soiling/Spots: There is moderate-heavy soiling throughout both stockings, mostly at the feet and ankle.
Repairs/Alterations: There is an extensive repair made to one stocking around the ankle.
THE TWENTIETH
The overall condition is good structurally with the following:
Fading/Color Change: Each stocking has darkened where the wool uppers meet the silk lowers.
Soiling/Spots: There is a large spot on the ankle of one stocking and a row of spots just above it. Each heel and toe has some moderate soiling.
THE TWENTY-FIRST
The overall condition is good with the following:
Fading/Color Change: There is some minor fading due to age on each stocking.
Soiling/Spots: There is moderate soiling along the feet of both stockings.
Repairs/Alterations: There is a darned repair on the toe of one of the stockings.
