Provenance:
By repute of the consignor, the terra cotta plaque was salvaged from the National Knights of Pythias Temple in Chicago. The temple was designed by Walter T. Bailey (1882-1941), the first licensed African-American architect in the state of Illinois, and was colloquially referred to as the "Skyscraper of Bronzeville."
