November 2004 in which he notes:
“In 1973, Leonor Fini created for the French publisher and art dealer
TCHOU an edition of six solid gold (490 grams) “jewel-sculptures” (the
artist’s definition) in the shape of 2 chamois horns. They were designed to
be worn as a sort of “tiara” on the head, or as a necklace, or to be
displayed on a small pedestal. This edition was entitled “Subjet en Or.”
For the public display and launching of this edition, TCHOU took over
the Altman-Carpentier Gallery on the Avenue Matignon for one month
and presented the horns on six mannequins (photographs in the
archives.)
The gowns and drapery of the mannequins were designed and executed
by Genevieve Sevin-Doring, a long-time collaborator of the artist in
theatre productions. The heads of the mannequins, in plaster of Paris and
covered in gold mesh-mail, were designed by Leonor Fini and executed by
a craftsman in Marseille. After the month-long presentation, the
mannequins were, for the most part, disassembled and/or destroyed…”
