Framed: 32 5/8 x 28 x 3 3/8 inches.
Canvas is lined and margins are trimmed, with two small tears to original canvas along upper edge. Significant surface dirt and dust, with heavy deposits of dust concentrated along extreme edges; frame abrasions scattered along extreme edges; network of craquelures throughout; stretcher bar marks along image perimeter with associated craquelures; constellation of small scattered white stains along edge of upper left quadrant; visible inpainting within background to the right of figure's face, within the background, most apparent under raking light and measuring 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches in area. Under UV light: in addition to the aforementioned area of inpainting, scattered instances fluoresce; any additional inpainting is difficult to discern due to the thick application of varnish.
