A Japanese Blue and White Porcelain Ovoid Jar, 17th Century
With vertical lip and spreading foot, decorated with various figures in stylized landscapes after European Chinoiserie models.
NOTE:
The decorative motifs found on the present jar were directly inspired by European blue and white tin-glazed earthenwares, circa 1660-1680, which were in turn based on Chinese examples of the transitional period.
