Estimate$4,000 – $6,000
Dates to late 20th century; origin of carving workshop unknown. The sculpture was displayed outdoors in a garden for the past seven years, causing it to acquire a very attractive weathered patina with areas of greenish patination and erosion on the marble. Prior to that it was purchased by the decedent at Hindman auctions, 16 April 2019, Lot 213. The base has numerous hairline cracks around its top and a large section of the bottom broken off, with two large segments detached but present, but despite these damages the sculpture and base are sturdy and can be moved. Additional photos available upon request.
The physical condition of lots in our auctions can vary due to age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and restoration/repair. All lots are sold "AS IS," in the condition they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make no representation or warranty and assume no liability of any kind as to a lot's condition.
