Appearing in fairly good and ready to place condition. The case with scattered nicks, scuffs, and scrapes consistent with age, use, and moving. The veneer with age splits and a few patched and filled areas. There is a missing section of veneer between the second and third drawers on the proper left side of the chest. The pulls and escutcheons are replacements. The top drawer with the bureau writing surface sticks a bit when opening and closing and the drawer does not close flush with the case. The small mirrored door on the interior of the bureau is heavily oxidized. There is a key which works in the locks; some of the drawers are warped and the lock does not engage. The gilt decoration is rubbed and flaking and the gesso is exposed in areas. The marble top is a replacement. It is intact with negligible roughness and chips to the edges. Some minor areas of discoloration. Additional images are available upon request.
