Estimate$3,000 – $5,000
With a custom-built wood crate for shipping. The clock does not come with a pendulum or any keys; the pendulum was already lost and not present with the clock while the clock was installed in the consignor's residence. It has not been inspected by a clock technician and we are not fully certain of its condition, but it seems to run strikes when the hands are advanced manually. The right-side bird doesn't consistently fully retract and close its door without "assistance." A tune-up is probably in order, but the movement and sound are good. A video is available upon request to show the movement and sound of the two birds. The case is in overall sturdy, attractive and ready-to-hang condition. There is a faintly visible cracked and possibly glued area on the proper right side of the "saddle bag." The antlers are slightly loose and one antler has a chip on its tip. The rifle is missing its trigger, trigger guard and possibly another element which is broken off and lost. The roof has newer mounting brackets and screws. The deer has chips on one of its ears. The numerals appear to have some overpainting and repairs. The back dust cover is missing.
The physical condition of lots in our auctions can vary due to age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and restoration/repair. All lots are sold "AS IS," in the condition they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make no representation or warranty and assume no liability of any kind as to a lot's condition. Any reference to condition in a catalogue description or a condition report shall not amount to a full accounting of condition. Condition reports prepared by Freeman's staff are provided as a convenience and may be requested from the Department prior to bidding.
The absence of a posted condition report on the Freeman's website or in our catalogues should not be interpreted as commentary on an item's condition. Prospective buyers are responsible for inspecting a lot or sending their agent or conservator to inspect the lot on their behalf, and for ensuring that they have requested, received and understood any condition report provided by Freeman's.
