Ex. Collection of Kay and Francis Reif, Canada. Acquired during the 1950s-1960s under the early guidance of Warren E. Cox, the renowned New York connoisseur and dealer of Asian art.
The Reif Collection is particularly noted for its fine examples of Chinese ivory and amber carvings and snuff bottles. The majority of the ivory and amber carvings were donated to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in the late 1990s and early 2000s, where they formed the foundation of the museum’s permanent Asian art collection.
