Renowned Greek jewelry house, Lalaounis is celebrated for its high-quality gold designs, ancient motifs, and detailed metalwork. Born in Athens in 1920, Ilias Lalaounis was the fourth generation in a family line of Delphi jewelers. He began his career as an apprentice at Zolotas, his uncle’s jewelry firm, learning techniques special to Greek style jewelry. In 1969 Lalaounis founded his eponymous firm, gaining significant success for his ancient Greek revival designs. The brand earned international praise when notable client Aristotle Onassis purchased pieces for Maria Callas and, later, Jackie Kennedy. In 1993, the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum opened in Athens, featuring thousands of examples of Lalaounis’ work. Today the brand, run by his four daughters, is celebrated for its high-karat yellow gold sculptural designs, inspired by ancient civilizations.
