The House of Gübelin, founded in Switzerland in 1854, is a historic family-owned firm known for its luxury watches, fine jewelry, and gemological laboratory. Gübelin was established by Mauritz Breitschmid as a modest watchmaker’s shop, but it was his son-in-law and apprentice, Eduard Jakob Gübelin, who gave the firm the name it is known for today. Since then, the firm has been passed down through generations of the Gübelin family. The firm mastered watchmaking, often manufacturing for notable houses like Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemars Piguet. After achieving success with their horology, Gübelin opened a jewelry division and ‘in-house’ gemological laboratory in the 1920s. Its jewelry quickly found success too, known for its classic designs, exquisite gemstones, and fine craftsmanship. Today Gübelin still creates phenomenal jewelry collections, including collections like ‘Sparks’, ‘Lily’, and ‘Bricks’, and their vintage pieces are highly-collectible.
