Raymond C. Yard, an iconic American jewelry designer, earned his reputation for his exquisite Art Deco and Retro jewelry. In 1898, at the age of 13, Raymond Yard began his career as a doorboy at Marcus & Co., the New York jewelry house. After years as a salesman for the designer, Yard opened his own firm in 1922 with the encouragement of John D. Rockefeller, who recommended his designs to friends and family. Raymond Yard gained its reputation for its exquisite Art Deco designs, featuring remarkable gemstones, its most iconic design the ‘Rabbit’ brooches. Yard’s client list grew to include some of the country’s most prominent families, including the DuPonts, Woolworths, and Vanderbilts, as well as Hollywood icons like Joan Crawford and Douglas Fairbanks. Upon his retirement in 1958, Yard passed his company to his protégés Robert Gibson, Donald Bartow, and Glen McQuaker. Today Mr. Gibson’s son, Bob Gibson, presides over the Yard name, preserving the traditional aesthetic and legacy of Raymond Yard. 

Overall Condition: Light scratching throughout consistent with age and use. Acid test indicates earrings are platinum and pin stems are 14 karat gold.
