Born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1921, Judith Leiber is an icon in the world of luxury accessories. Lieber began her career in the Hungarian capital as a handbag designer, becoming the first woman to graduate from the nation’s artist guild. A Holocaust survivor, Leiber moved to New York City with her husband, an American soldier, following WWII. She became well known for her intricate minaudiere strass crystalized bags that are still synonymous with her name today. In addition to her handbag creations, Lieber had a small range of fine jewelry, mostly earrings and bracelets, that were produced and sold for a short period of time. Embracing the brand’s maximalist opulence, her jewelry features whimsical designs, bold motifs, and eclectic qualities, such as textured metalwork, rich enamel work, and pavé settings. The Judith Leiber name remains a symbol of glamour, craftsmanship, and artistry to this day. Her creations can be found on display in museums like The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Overall Condition: Light scratching consistent with age and use. Safety clasps present at both hinges.
