"This coverlet was made for a member of Dr W. A. Giddings' family, who owned a saw mill at Lanark, Illinois. Daniel Arnold is listed as a weaver in the Census of Taxables, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in 1828 and 1835. Other Arnold coverlets are dated 1835, 1836, 1838, 1839, and 1844."
