Southern Illinois and Pennsylvania, First Half 19th Century

the first, made in Southern Illinois, circa 1850, plain weave with supplementary patterning wefts (overshot), two loom widths joined; the second, first quarter 19th century, plain weave; two loom widths joined; the third, made in Pennsylvania, circa 1825-1830, point twill weave (multiple shaft), warp and weft fringe, one loom width (half of a coverlet).

87 1/2 × 64 inches (first), 84 × 64 3/4 inches (second), 83 1/2 × 37 1/2 inches (third).

The first coverlet: Elizabeth Scott (born 1890; born Moulton; also Mrs. Winfield Scott), Chicago, and her daughter, Barbara Elizabeth Holleroth (1926–2009; born Scott), by 1954 [incoming receipt RX1301, June 13, 1954; copy in curatorial object file];
