the top section originally went on top of a lower section of a chest-on-chest (lower section now lost), and the consignor has had the present base custom-made to support it; with a refinished, polished surface; the right-facing side cornice piece and the block / capital to the quarter column are detached and missing, and the left-facing cornice piece with some old loss or wear along edge; the drawer faces with some scattered old losses along edge or corners commensurate with age; the front and sides each have a replaced wood molded element along bottom edge; the brasses are replaced; four drawers missing locks; the right-facing side panel with some old age cracks and some shallow old darkened gouges and stains; the backboards retaining an old painted inscription which appears to read, "@ S. Bull/ Repton/ Pa" (somewhat faint and indistinct)
