Provenance:
Property from the Private Collection of Dr. Augusta Rubin, acquired during her travels in Asia in 1963; thence by descent.
Dr. Augusta Rubin was a highly accomplished classical pianist, musicologist, and professor at The Juilliard School, as well as the author of J.S. Bach: A Modern Composer. In 1963, she embarked on a pioneering solo voyage around the world, a remarkably independent undertaking for a woman of her era. Throughout her extensive travels across Asia, she cultivated a discerning eye and assembled a remarkable collection of art and antiquities. Preserved privately for over sixty years, this collection is now being presented to the public for the first time.
